Who we are

We are a family run operation with female leadership focused on cultivating and delivering small batch high quality recreational cannabis with medicinal benefits for the state of Maine. We have built our facility from the ground up utilizing various recovered warehouse and shipping equipment to ensure that our environmental footprint is kept within our green standards. The growing process we use at Lighthouse Farms includes high quality LED lights, modern heating and cooling methods, home grown automation techniques as well as implementing a living hydroponic system which includes an all organic feeding formula regiment.

What is Living Hydroponics

Living hydroponics is a type of hydroponic system that uses living organisms, such as bacteria and fungi, to help break down nutrients and provide a more balanced environment for plants to grow in. This type of system is often referred to as a “bioreactor” or “microbial fuel cell.”

In a living hydroponic system, bacteria and fungi are added to the nutrient solution. These organisms break down the nutrients into smaller molecules that are more easily absorbed by the plants. The bacteria and fungi also produce beneficial compounds, such as hormones and antibiotics, that help the plants to grow and thrive.

There are a number of benefits with living hydroponics over traditional hydroponic systems, including:

  • Higher yields: Living hydroponic systems can produce higher yields than traditional hydroponic systems. This is because the bacteria and fungi in the system help to break down nutrients more effectively and provide a more balanced environment for the plants to grow in.
  • Faster growth: Living hydroponic systems can promote faster plant growth than traditional hydroponic systems. This is because the bacteria and fungi in the system produce hormones and other beneficial compounds that help the plants to grow more quickly.
  • Better quality: Living hydroponic systems can produce plants that are of better quality than traditional hydroponic systems. This is because the plants in living hydroponic systems are grown in a more balanced environment and are not exposed to harsh chemicals.
  • More sustainable: Living hydroponic systems are more sustainable than traditional hydroponic systems. This is because the bacteria and fungi in the system help to break down nutrients and produce beneficial compounds, which reduces the need for external inputs such as fertilizer and pesticides.
